happy fall y’all

September 22, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Happy First Day of Fall!

This is my favorite time of year – beautiful colors, pumpkin spice candles, leaves scattering in the breeze. I always feel so refreshed & renewed in the Fall. I’m going to start this Autumn renewal with a little bloggy break. Our church is spending this week in prayer & fasting – I can’t do a food fast right now, so I’m doing a blog fast instead. I won’t be posting here, or reading my bloglines, for the rest of the week. I must confess that this is a difficult thing for me- I hate to miss out on what’s going on. Precisely the reason I need to give it up!

Is there anything I can be praying for you this week? Send me an email & let me know. toombstown AT gmail DOT com

Here are some neat things going on this week in Bloggyworld. I will be joining in the fun this weekend. Have a great week!

This is a Christian-run home party plan with beautiful, affordable home decor. I was an active Designer for several years and made quite a good nest egg from just 4-5 parties a month. HGP offers one of the highest commissions in the business, and the support and training are outstanding!! I no longer have time to do parties :o( , but I’m still signed up because I love the products so much! (I still have people calling me to order candles – they are that yummy.) The link above will give you lots of info & help you find a Designer in your area. This is the perfect time of year to start with Christmas just around the corner – people love being able to shop from home, and there are no extra shipping costs when ordered through a party! Bonus: right now you can sign up for half price!! (p.s. Since I’m not active, I don’t gain in any way from the link above. I just love this company & the Godly principles it was built on, and hope it might bless someone else too! Feel free to contact me if I can answer any questions.)

wfmw- select comfort bed

September 17, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Now that I’m in my last month of pregnancy, my Sleep Number Bed from Select Comfort really works for me. We’ve had ours for about two years and still love it! I don’t spend the entire night tossing & turning, trying to find a comfortable position, like I did with all my other kids.  I had hip pain after Little Prince was born and spent every morning sitting on the couch until I could loosen up enough to walk – the third morning after we got our Sleep Number Bed, I slid out of bed with no pain or stiffness!

I very strongly recommend going to a Select Comfort store and letting one of the associates help you find your sleep number. It can be miserable if you are sleeping on the wrong number. (My side looks like a hammock, while my husband’s is slightly softer than the floor.  LOL) The only thing that hasn’t worked for us is getting a queen size to save a few $$ – go for the king!!!

Run on over to Rocks In My Dryer for tons of great tips!

Tips I want to remember:

Homemade Dishwasher Detergent

Mommy Calling Card download

Bread Recipes

Chili Relleno Sauce

Passing Notes in Church

Snack Baggies

Cavatini Recipe

Best Booster Seat

weblink wednesday

September 10, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

I’m participating for the first time in Weblink Wednesday, a fun list of educational sites. I love online learning!

My girls have a history research project to do every week and sites like wikipedia are just over their heads (plus I don’t know if I can trust the content). I was looking for a kid-friendly search engine and that’s how I came across Kidipede.

Here are a few more history sites to enjoy:

Thinking Things by Snaith Primary there are so many fun & useful things here

Walk Through Time interactive timeline & games, printable activities

History Detectives

History on the Net printable worksheets
