review – Gymathtics

November 30, 2009 By: amyswandering2 Comments

We had fun reviewing our free copy of Gymathtics from Exploramania. Gymathtics pairs up exercise and math facts in this award winning DVD. I was expecting it to be only simple subjects like multiplication facts, so I was pleasantly surprised when Prime Numbers popped up on the screen. The targeted audience is 2nd – 5th graders, but my younger and older ones enjoyed it too.

The 30-minute program includes:

  • Shape Stretches Warm Up: Stretch your mind and body with line, circle, and polygon stretches.
  • Counting Calisthenics: Aerobic movements work your heart as fun counting concepts work your brain.
  • Pattern Power: Growing and repeating pattern exercise combinations challenge minds and strengthen muscles.
  • Well-Being Wind Down: Relaxing stretches cool down the body and open the mind to think about healthy lifestyle choices including the Nice Wave Stretch and Big Dream Stretch.

The Nitty Gritty:

  • $24.95

Things I Like:

  • There is a wide range of topics covered (see a list HERE).
  • It’s a pretty decent workout.
  • I love having something active AND educational for those bad-weather days when we’ve all been inside too long.
  • This is a great resource for kinesthetic learning.

Value: I think the value of this depends on your need for it. (It’s only a good deal if you will use it regularly.) Check out a video sample below.

*jingle* cyber monday deals

November 30, 2009 By: amyswanderingcomment

Happy Cyber Monday everyone! Not familiar with Cyber Monday? It’s the online equivalent of Black Friday. There are some great deals to be found, but most are for today only so hurry.

Just visit your favorite online stores for the Cyber Monday Sales, or do a search for Cyber Monday through a search engine like Swagbucks.

p.s. Before you order, check & see if you can go through Cashbaq or Ebates. Ebates is offering a Double Cash Back Deal today!

(Important thing to remember: If you want to purchase from one of these retailers, and get the Cashbaq or Ebates rebates, then you have to purchase through the link on the rebate sites.)

a holly jolly christmas

November 30, 2009 By: amyswanderingcomment

This poor blog has been a bit neglected the past couple of weeks, but my family has been well taken care of.  🙂 I am ready to get back into the swing of things and enjoy a Blessed December!

Here are some upcoming plans and posts. Tune back in everyday this week for lots of links & ideas!

~ Do you live in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area? There are some fun holiday activities going on and I will have a list to share.

~ There are also some fun events going on in Bloggyworld!

~ We are going to make a Jesus Box this year.

~ We are spending the afternoon creating Christmas Countdown Calendars (so I can quit answering “How many more days until Christmas?”).

~ I have lots of Advent links to share. There are so many good ideas that I’m having a hard time narrowing down what I want to do this year!

~ I like to do Funschool in December. We will be studying the history behind the symbols of Christmas. Here are my Funschool Links from last year to keep you busy until I get the new links up.

~ Are you having a homemade Christmas this year? Money is tight for many of us. I will be sharing links for lots of ideas to make for all ages.  Things like: candy & treats, gifts in a jar, toys, and lots more!

~ And of course I will be sharing lots of money-saving *Jingles* !!
