Free Phonics & Reading Curriculum

Teaching your child to read is one of the most important parts of homeshooling, and it can sometimes be one of the hardest. These FREE Phonics and Reading curriculum resources offer lots of great ideas.

Starfall   a fun interactive site for learning letter sounds – don’t miss the Download Center, the Scope & Sequence, and the Site Map

Progressive Phonics  books and activity sheets

Literactive  lessons, activities, books, & worksheets

Kids Learning Station  phonics worksheets

Student Center Activities   (K-5) phonics; also covers reading strategies, parts of a book, etc.

First 55 Come Alive!  Montessori lessons for the first 55 words a child will read

Striveney  1000 interactive online exercises (British)

Reading Lessons  step-by-step lessons & books

ABC The Key  online video lessons

Fun Fonix  worksheets (great stuff if you can get past the crazy spelling LOL)

Blend Phonics  by Don Potter – based on the work of a master teacher born in 1902

Reading for Primary Teachers  this site is a bit overwhelming to navigate, but has so much to offer

ABC Fast Phonics   phonics tutorials with sound & cartoons

Reading Bear  beginning vocabulary & phonics

Stairway to Reading  help for the struggling reader
