Oh my goodness!! I’m from Canada, so maybe I don’t know all about what is acceptable in the U.S., but do people actually still call Aboriginals INDIANS? And they are teaching that to preschoolers? I am a preschool teacher and am just appalled to see this in a package for young children – or anyone for that matter. North America’s Natives deserve to have some respect and this isn’t it. They did not originate from India, they came from here; North America; the place we Caucasians are now lucky enough to call home. Please stop using this incorrect term in your classrooms and start showing some respect to the Peoples from whom we stole this land.

I think it must be a cultural difference? I am part Choctaw, my husband is part Cherokee, and his great-grandmother walked the Trail of Tears. Both sides of the family refer to themselves as Indian. Native American is commonly used here, but I’ve never heard the Aboriginal label.
