I am being compensated for my time on this post, and I am not required to give a positive review. As always, I am sharing my honest opinion with you.
When I was working on curriculum plans this summer, I spent half a day searching for a better way to organize my online resources. I gather lots of fun links throughout the year, which I organize in LiveBinder, but I wanted some way to easily access my plans without having to be tethered to my computer.
I tried to use Evernote for this purpose but ran into two problems: I have too many projects going on there and get tired of wading through them, and it is too easy to accidentally erase things. I finally gave up my search for a better organizer.
Let me tell you … my heart skipped a little beat when I caught wind of a new homeschool app in the works. It is called Flexible School Schedule and it is a structured but flexible way to plan your homeschool.
Flexible School Schedule is being developed by Phillip and Lanaya Gore, homeschooling parents of four who live in San Antonio, TX. (Lanaya has written curriculum for SimplyCharlotteMason.com.) They want to help you create a school plan that can flex with the realities of life.
Track Progress
The difficulty with most online homeschool planners is that you input lessons by date. Some let you rearrange lessons easily, but there is still that uneasy feeling of being behind as you shift your plans to a new date.
This app doesn’t track by dates, but by progress based on a timeframe you input for each subject. You can see at a glance how much ground you have covered and how much is left to go. This is perfect for an eclectic homeschooler like myself who tends to just do the next thing and hang out there until we get tired of it.
Now back to my problem of organizing resources … Flexible School Schedule allows me to add books, links and videos to any subject or lesson. There is also a scratchpad for taking notes.
Print & Report Records
Do you have to turn in lesson plans or portfolios? Flexible School Schedule lets you print your child’s activities and time logs. This is particularly useful to Charlotte Mason & Unschooling families who don’t use traditional textbooks.
Flexible School Schedule works with any internet connected device. Grab a device and head out the door!
