saving $100

Crystal at Biblical Womanhood shared 5 ways she saved $100 last year, and is inviting us all to post our lists.

Here are some things we did last year that made a big difference:

1. Canceled Netflix and started using Redbox. Sign up for the Inside Redbox mailing list and get a free rental code in your email every Monday.

2. Canceled our landline & went to cellphones. We live in the boonies & had to have a metro line, so this saved us $35 a month.

3. In November we discovered a problem with our central heating, so we used the fireplace and 2 small space heaters through a cold spell (we are in N. Texas). We discovered 2 things: we survived quite nicely without the heat on, & our electric bill was $100 lower than normal!! We still haven’t turned the heat on.

4. I visited gottadeal.com every day or two to find the best (& a lot of times FREE) deals on the internet.

5. I finally got Sassyfrass out of diapers WOOHOO!!

    happy birthday little man

    January 11, 2008 By: amyswandering7 Comments

Today our son Elijah would have been 12 years old. It’s been almost 8 years since he left us… pain has eased, life has resumed, God has graciously returned JOY to our home. But the hole is still there, I think it always will be. I am so blessed to have a house full of little stinkers to help celebrate the day our precious first-born entered our lives!

Thank you God for giving us 4 years to enjoy our sweet Elijah! He was worth every ounce of pain and suffering we went through. I learned something about myself during all of this – I think I would have sent someone like me straight to Hell with no second thought if it meant I could have kept my son here with me. Yet You, while I was still a sinner, willingly chose for your son to die for me. My brain still cannot completely comprehend why, but I am so grateful. Because of your Grace and Mercy, I will someday get another bear hug from my sweet little one, and the hole will be filled again. Thank You! Thank You! Thank You! for the Hope and Peace you have lavished upon us.

    Happy Birthday Little Man!

    the Lord delights in you

    January 7, 2008 By: amyswandering4 Comments

The LORD your God is with you,
    He is mighty to save.
He will take great delight in you,
he will quiet you with his love,
he will rejoice over you with singing.
    Zephaniah 3:17

We sang this in church yesterday, and it turned up in my reading this morning. I think God might want me to share it with you :o)
