wfmw – welcome fall!

September 22, 2010 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Fall is my favorite season! I love the smells, the sounds, the colors, the COOLER WEATHER!!

Here are some fun  Fall-ish Fall-y Autumn ideas for you to try:

~* This will be our third year to make this delicious Orange Oatmeal Cake on the first day of Fall. We dubbed it Harvest Cake and eat it for breakfast!

~* I always pop in for a visit at Sugar Pie Farmhouse as the seasons change. Her house is warm, cozy & beautifully decorated, and the spirit of God dwells there.

~* You can roll out the goodies every day from now ’til Christmas with Pillsbury’s Ultimate Fall Baking Guide

~* Sprinkle a little inspiration around the house with these free printable Autumn Quote Greeting Cards

~* You will find tons of craft ideas at the Fall Frenzy linky party

~* Color one of these stunning Fall Mandala coloring pages

~* Decorate your home with ideas from The Inspired Room’s Fall Nesting Party

~* Finish out the day with a hearty helping of Autumn Sausage Casserole, Autumn Chicken Stew, or Pork That Tastes Like Fall

Head on over to We Are That Family for tons of great tips!

autumn stained glass

September 9, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

We do nature study on Fridays – our favorite day of the week! We take a walk around the neighborhood pond if the weather is nice, and the kiddos have to add at least one page to their nature notebooks.

I try to do some fun seasonal crafts on Friday as well. Tomorrow we will be making these colorful stained glass windows.

Here’s what you need:

  • scissors
  • glue
  • pencil
  • construction paper
  • cardstock
  • tissue paper in Autumn colors
  1. Print your outlines onto cardstock and cut out to create patterns. (Hang onto these – they might come in handy for all kinds of crafts.)
  2. Choose a pattern and trace around it on a piece of construction paper.
  3. Cut out your shape outline – make a small hole in the middle of your paper with your scissors to get started. Little ones will need help with this.
  4. Turn your paper over to the back and put a line of glue around the outline.
  5. Tear the tissue paper into strips and fill in your outline with the different colors. You might need to add glue as you go.
  6. Let dry & hang in a window.

fall into fun

September 9, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

Ok, I know it’s not actually Autumn yet, but it’s my favorite time of year so Fall officially starts the day after Labor Day in this house! I started decorating yesterday and it is so cozy.

You might have noticed that I’ve been missing from this blog. Schooling 5 kids and keeping a toddler from destroying the house has taken up all my time (and brain cells!).

Sooooooo I’m going to do what I do best when I don’t have time for real posts ….. SHARE LOTS OF GREAT LINKS!!!

Expect tons of fun, random links for home decor, recipes, fun Autumn activities – whatever I come across. Get your bookmarking finger ready and see you soon!!
