Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Meal

November 21, 2011 By: amyswandering2 Comments

**Update: Ha! You’d think I would learn to check the dates more carefully. It doesn’t show until Thanksgiving night – that was an old schedule.

Watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving has a been a tradition for as long as I can remember. (And not on DVD, thankyouverymuch!)

I saw the CUTEST idea on Facebook this morning: re-create the Peanuts Thanksgiving meal while you watch the show!

{If I figure out which blog it was, I will give credit.}

These are the dishes at the meal:

  • toast
  • popcorn
  • pretzels
  • jelly beans
  • ice cream sundaes

Make it authentic by tossing (paper) plates at each member of the family!

If you don’t want to do the whole dinner, make some Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Dinner snack mix.

I will try to remember to take pics tomorrow night when we have our “meal”. ** See Update

WFMW – A Basket of Thanksgiving Books

November 16, 2011 By: amyswanderingcomment

Every year, starting way back when my oldest were teeny-tiny, I pull out a basket of books at the beginning of each holiday season.

My kiddos squeal with delight to see their old favorites!

It is so sweet to watch one of them snuggle up with Sweetpea and read a beloved book to her for the first time.

Here are several of the books in our Thanksgiving Basket:

A Turkey for Thanksgiving  Mrs. Moose wants a turkey for Thanksgiving – a favorite!

One Little, Two Little, Three Little Pilgrims  counting rhyme – a favorite!

Thanksgiving Day at Our House Thanksgiving Poems for the Very Young

Thanksgiving Mice!  cute little mice put on a Thanksgiving play

Corn Is Maize  interesting info on the use of corn by ancient Indians

Let’s Celebrate Thanksgiving  interesting Q&A format about Thanksgiving

Cranberry Thanksgiving  like the rest of the Cranberry series , this story has lots of amusing characters & mystery

The Thanksgiving Story  the story of the Hopkins family’s first year in their new home

This First Thanksgiving Day  a counting story

The Popcorn Book  a mini history of popcorn

1621:A New Look at Thanksgiving  illustrated with photos from Plimoth Plantation

Squanto and the Miracle of Thanksgiving  the story of God’s plan for Squanto

I linked to Amazon so you can get a closer look, but you can probably find many of these in a used bookstore or on Paperbackswap. I like to collect them throughout the year at thrift stores.

We need to add some new books to our basket. What Thanksgiving stories are on your favorites list?

Run on over to We Are That Family for some great tips!
