simply lovely

June 21, 2007 By: amyswandering2 Comments

I wandered across this breathe of fresh air while visiting my friend Jill’s blog. There I found the most beautiful journal. I’m not a journal/diary keeper, but loooove this idea. I think I’m going to give it a try. You can see more samples & ideas in this post.

kitchen tip tuesdays

May 22, 2007 By: amyswandering2 Comments

It’s the first ever Kitchen Tip Tuesday over at Tammy’s Recipes. My tip is for those of you who have a pasta machine. (like my handy little Ronco) I don’t make pasta with it anymore since hubby went low carb, but I’ve discovered that you can mix just about anything in it. My family loves sausage balls but my hands get tired mixing a big batch together. Just throw it all in the pasta maker & be done with it! Works great for cookie dough too. Check out all the great kitchen tips here.

wfmw – 1 coupon a week

May 9, 2007 By: amyswandering3 Comments

wfmwheader_12.jpeg

Couponing is a hobby of mine. I love to clip them, organize them, get $180 worth of groceries for only $12. (Oh yes, I did!) Not everyone feels the same about those wonderful pieces of paper though. My friends have told me that that they don’t use enough coupons to make it worth the trouble to cut them out.

I am going to show you that it IS worth it, even if you only use one coupon a week. One .50 coupon a week adds up over the course of a year.

.50 x 52 weeks = $26.00 a year!

That’s $26.00 you didn’t have before you used only 1 coupon a week. You can go to the movies, buy a pair of shoes, pay down a bill, buy a couple of books. Now think of what you could do if you used 2 coupons a week!

Start by just cutting out the coupon(s) you want to use – there’s no need to cut them ALL out. An important thing to remember is to only choose a coupon for something you would normally buy, like detergent or shampoo.

Head on over to Rocks In My Dryer for some great tips!

home is a haven

February 20, 2007 By: amyswanderingcomment

This quote is from an 1867 Victorian newspaper column written by Mrs. “Jenny June”:

“Even under the present imperfect conditions, home is the central attraction of every human heart, the inspiration of nearly all effort, the haven of all our hopes & desires. What would it be were women true to themselves, to their high destiny, to their great work? [What would it be] were the influences of home charged, as they might be, with the electric current of active love, faith, knowledge, strength, courage, and devotion to the interests they are bound to protect?”

Taken from Sarah Ban Breathnach’s Mrs. Sharp’s Traditions
