God in the everyday

October 6, 2008 By: amyswanderingcomment

If it isn’t possible to know the quickening presence of God in the everyday routine, one might as well ship religiosity off to a seminary library and leave it there. Either God is God of life, or God is on the reserve shelf, available and relevant only to a sanctified elite.

simple woman’s daybook

October 6, 2008 By: amyswanderingcomment

http://thesimplewoman.blogspot.com/2008/10/simple-womens-daybook.html

FOR TODAY …

Outside my window… it is cloudy and drizzling

I am thinking... of Autumn crafts and recipes (which I hope to share later)

From the learning rooms… just some organizing and seasonal fun. We are taking October off in anticipation of Baby Girl’s arrival

I am thankful for… the rain!!

From the kitchen… popcorn chicken (39 weeks pregnant & a sick child – nothing fancy today)

I am creating… my holiday planner

I am going… to Central Market for Honeycrisp apples and pumpkins

I am reading… my Bible,  Learning All the Time

I am hoping… to have a baby by the end of the week

I am hearing… Sherri Lewis singing silly songs

Around the house… I’m sanitizing everything (and everyone). Funny Girl woke up with a nasty tummy bug this morning. Please pray that no one else gets it!!

One of my favorite things… the scent of a pumpkin spice candle

A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…  my Dr. appt.; get the fall clothes out of the attic; finish putting up Autumn decor

Here is picture thought I am sharing…

click on the pic to get instructions for making these beautiful maple leaf roses (not my photo)

Head on over to The Simple Woman to join in!

drat, no baby

October 1, 2008 By: amyswandering3 Comments

After a sleepless night of contractions, I thought I might get to have a baby today. NOPE. They were just teasing me and stopped as the sun was coming up. I had a sono on Monday and she is already 7 lbs. 1 oz., so I’m really hoping we don’t go past our Oct. 13th due date!!

homeschool memoirs #7 snack food

October 1, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

“There are so many different kinds of snack foods, store-bought and homemade, and I would like to invite you to share what snack foods your family usually snacks on throughout the week. You’re welcome to make season lists too. I know there are different meals we eat during the colder seasons than we do in the warmer ones, and I imagine there are also seasonal snack foods as well.”

Snack time is mid-afternoon in our house. The kids get to pick one item and can have milk(organic), juice or water to drink. (Fruit is available anytime of the day – I don’t count it as a snack.)

Here’s what we usually have on hand:

  • popcorn (sometimes topped with parmesan cheese)
  • cheese crackers
  • raisins
  • organic chewy granola bars so yummy
  • crunchy granola bars
  • yogurt
  • string cheese
  • graham crackers & peanut butter
  • cheddar pretzel twists (Rold Gold)
  • nuts
  • leftovers from breakfast – chocolate chip pancakes with flax & wheat germ, muffins like these or these (can you tell we are chocolate fans?)
  • pumpkin bread or gingerbread

I added a snack basket to our pantry a couple of weeks ago and it has worked out great! Our snacks have lasted much longer and the kids enjoy being able to see all the choices. I got the idea from this WFMW post – go check out her idea and pics!

happy fall y’all

September 22, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Happy First Day of Fall!

This is my favorite time of year – beautiful colors, pumpkin spice candles, leaves scattering in the breeze. I always feel so refreshed & renewed in the Fall. I’m going to start this Autumn renewal with a little bloggy break. Our church is spending this week in prayer & fasting – I can’t do a food fast right now, so I’m doing a blog fast instead. I won’t be posting here, or reading my bloglines, for the rest of the week. I must confess that this is a difficult thing for me- I hate to miss out on what’s going on. Precisely the reason I need to give it up!

Is there anything I can be praying for you this week? Send me an email & let me know. toombstown AT gmail DOT com

Here are some neat things going on this week in Bloggyworld. I will be joining in the fun this weekend. Have a great week!
