Homeschooling Through the Seasons Basket Giveaway

August 7, 2017 By: amyswandering61 Comments

One of my favorite things about homeschooling is being able to immerse ourselves into each season.

Each time the calendar page flips we read old & new favorite books, explore the history behind the holidays, make yummy seasonal treats, practice grammar with holiday Mad Libs, and do some Funschool lessons.

(If you need seasonal homeschool ideas, I have tons of them saved on Pinterest.)

For this year’s iHomeschool Network Back to Homeschool Basket Giveaway, I have put together a Homeschooling Through the Seasons Gift Basket.

It is filled with resources to help you plan some memorable moments for your family.

Treasuring God in Our Traditions helps you incorporate Christ-centered traditions into your everyday life. It is one of my favorite books, and has really had an impact on our celebrations.

I love my Orange Circle Studio Do It All Planner. It is the perfect size to cart around wherever you go. There are pages for holidays and special events, and lots of stickers for any occasion to add to your planner pages.

These pretty Psalms in Color cards are perfect to display around the house or give away to others.

Cleaning Around the Seasons eBook will help you deep clean your house and get it holiday ready.

Plan a Fabulous Party {without losing your mind} eBook gives you a framework for planning some fun events for your family.

A Deliberate Mother’s Guide to Holidays, Vacations and Quality Family Time eBook is filled with ideas to help you make special occasions and family time more meaningful.

The 12 Days of Christmas Adventure eBook is a family project to share a little Christmas cheer.

(Note: The basket is just display and does not come with your prize. 🙂)

Giveaway ends August 13th and is open to US residents only.

PLEASE NOTE: I will be away from the computer for a couple of days and may not be able to moderate comments (which means you won’t see your comment below right away.) I promise it is there! Just make sure to submit your giveaway form and it will keep track of everything.

We have always given new board games for Christmas, but this past year we mixed it up by having every family member pick some of their favorites from our collection. I wrapped up all the old and new board games, but them under the tree, and we unwrapped and played one every day during Advent. It was great family time and something we will definitely continue going forward!

We love to celebrate the seasons! One of my favorite traditions is to light a candle on each day of December, the next day light two, then three, and by the time Christmas Eve rolls around we have 24 candles lighting the room and sing Christmas carols!

Each year my cousins and siblings pick a theme for gifts. Each family buys a gift for each family since we’ve gotten too big to give each person a gift! Some themes have been books (like a family read-aloud) or board games. The most fun, though, was the “As Seen on TV” year!

Growing up, my parents, my grandmother, and my aunts each gave me a special ornament at Christmas time. It usually had something to do with a hobby I enjoyed that year, something I participated in, my favorite book/TV show, etc. My parents also bought me an ornament every time we traveled too so I would have them from all the places I visited growing up. When I got married, I had enough of those “special” ornaments to fill a 6 ft. tree. We didn’t have to buy a single ornament! We have continued that tradition with our own children now too. They always count down the days until Christmas Eve when they get to open their special ornaments from us and their grandparents and aunt.

Our new tradition that we are loving is that we don’t exchange gifts at home on Christmas day. Our kids have SO MANY relatives that it was just getting overwhelming, so we instead gave ourselves permission to buy them a few things here and there throughout the year (something our budget never allowed before, since we needed to save the extra money for Christmas), take a picture of them with it, and then look back at the pictures on Christmas day to see all the fun we had surprising each other through the year.
