Talk Like a Pirate Day is September 19th, and we are having some piratey fun this week!

I created a pirate-themed assignment sheet to plan out our activities. I’ve also added it to my list of September assignment sheets.

Check out my Shiver Me Timbers! post if you need some creative ideas!

Real Life Homeschooling: Back to School Chaos

September 11, 2013 By: amyswandering4 Comments

RLH

Real Life has been happening around here in the form of Back to School busy-ness. For the first couple of weeks, I hit the floor running and don’t stop until I collapse into bed at night. I like to start the school year with most of our work organized, but the days leading up to the first day of school can look a bit scary.

This was my desk, piled with (some of) the work to be sorted & filed:

I am going to turn the tables and ask YOU about Real Life and back-to-school.

Do you plan out your year, or just wing it?

I do a little of both. I divide up our books/workbooks by weeks and map out a general plan, but then give myself the freedom to add things or rearrange throughout the year.

Do you have to make a mess to get organized, or does the chaos drive you crazy?

I need to have everything piled up in front of me before I can start putting it in order.

How long does it take you to get back into the swing of things?

It takes us about two weeks of everyone moaning on the couch each morning before it becomes routine.

{Real Life Homeschooling} is a monthly blog hop that I co-host with 20+ bloggers. It is about turning the world into our classroom and showing how homeschooling happens in real life as well as during “school hours” .

We invite you to link up your Real Life Homeschooling posts!!

Review: How To Succeed As An Educational Printables Business

August 29, 2013 By: amyswanderingcomment

Homeschoolers are typically one-income families. More and more moms are looking for a way to bring in some extra money, and the educational printables business is booming! Having made a few printables myself, I can say that creating them is the easy part. Most of it can be learned through trial & error and a few Google searches. Selling them however? That is easier said than done.

I have the privilege of reviewing How To Succeed As An Educational Printables Business, an ebook written by Jill of Enchanted Homeschooling Mom.

How-To-Succeed-As-An-Educational-Printables-Business

How To Succeed As An Educational Printables Business is a workbook that walks you through the process of what it takes to sell your printables. It is not as simple as creating your pages and finding a market for them. How are you going to deliver your product? Do you need to register your business? What steps are going to protect your copyright? Jill answers all of these questions and more in these chapters:

  • So, You Want To Start An Educational Printables Business…
  • How Will I Start My Business…
  • What Is Your Target Audience…
  • Creating Your Educational Printables…
  • How Will I Get My Items To My Buyers…
  • Price Point – Not Just How Much I Want To Charge…
  • Advertising My Business…
  • Why I Have to Keep Good Records…
  • Tax implications…
  • Are You Having Fun Yet…

Jill has created a successful printables business with her Enchanted Homeschooling Mom Member’s Only Website. She has a heart for helping others get started, and plenty of experience to share. Let her help you avoid some of the obstacles along the way by creating a start-to-finish plan.
