Go Back to School with HP and Walmart (Giveaway!)

August 31, 2012 By: amyswandering

The planning is done, the workbooks are printed, and we have happily finished our first week of school.

Since much of our homeschooling is done with free printable resources, a good computer and printer is a must-have for back to school!

Walmart has a line of HP products with some pretty cool features to help you or your kiddos embrace technology along with education.

HP Pavilion dv6-7029wm Entertainment PC

Homeschool Mom might not come to mind when you read quad speakers and subwoofer, but have you ever tried to gather 5 kids closely around the average laptop because no one can hear the really cool video that you’ve carefully chosen to go with your science lesson? Gimme the speakers!

The Pavilion dv6-7029wm is sure to be the best entertainment PC on campus. With a sleek, tapered metal design, it’s easy to pick up. With cool features like Beats Audio amplified by quad speakers and a subwoofer, it’s tough to put down.

HP Deskjet 3052a e-All-in-One printer

I really LOVE this idea of being able to print something from anywhere using a smartphone or tablet.  I assumed this printer came with a high price tag and I was shocked when I checked the Walmart website. Y’all…it is priced from only $69-$148!!

With an HP e-Print wireless enabled printer you can now print from your smartphone or tablet from virtually anywhere! Your children can send photos and assignments from the classroom right to your HP ePrint printer at home by simply sending an email. This printer is also great for teens going away to college! You can share photos and recipes with them in their dorm room. Stay in touch with your students with HP ePrint.

HP XL ink cartridges

It is such distraction to have to run to Walmart in the middle of a big project because your printer ran out of ink. These big boys should keep your printer humming until the job is done.

Back-to-school means lots of printing! These cartridges fit in your printer like HP’s regular cartridges, but they hold more ink! The best part is they are now available at Walmart and Walmart.com/HPink so you can stock up on ink when you buy groceries. You can save up to 40% on printing with HP’s XL ink cartridges*. That’s a great value any mom can appreciate!
*Compared with single, standard HP ink cartridges. Based on average retail pricing, actual prices may vary.

One of my wonderful readers is going to win a $25 Walmart gift card to stock up on back to school essentials!!

Winner to be announced soon!!

Mandatory entry: Which HP product would best prepare you or your child for a new school year, and why?

Your Grocery Budget Toolbox *Giveaway*

July 17, 2012 By: amyswandering

Do you ever decide to do a little project around the house, get frustrated when you can’t find all of the tools or supplies, and quit before you ever get started?

(What? That’s just me? Ok, then you’ll have to pretend! 😉 )

The same thing can happen when it comes to eating healthier. You decide to start feeding your family whole foods, go to the store and have a minor stroke over the price of healthy food, and quickly fall back into your old pattern of eating.

Your Grocery Budget Toolbox is going to teach you how to feed your family real food on a real budget!

I used to be a couponing pro, regularly saving 60-85% on my shopping trips. Those savings rapidly declined when we started transitioning to a whole food diet a few years ago. I plan my menu according to the weekly sales, and make the majority of our meals from scratch, but I know our grocery bill could be lower.

I was over-the-top excited when I started reading Your Grocery Budget Toolbox! Anne not only takes you step-by-step through the many ways you can save on healthy food, she also breaks each chapter down into specific details.

Take my favorite chapter for example: Sourcing Healthy Food

A lame ebook would simply list all of the stores that carry inexpensive organic foods. But this is no lame ebook, it is a Toolbox, and it lists exactly which organic items can be found cheapest at each store!

Every chapter is filled with valuable information!

  • Budget (how to make one, what you can afford on your budget, a sample $250/month budget, and more)
  • Price List (what it is, how it helps, how to make one, how to maintain)
  • Sourcing (a comprehensive review of sources – online and brick-and-mortar – for inexpensive healthy food)
  • Once-a-Month Shopping (maximizing your budget by shopping once a month)
  • Price Caps (learn how to set limits for how much you will spend on different items)
  • Coupons (can coupons be effective when shopping for healthy foods?)
  • Do it Yourself Foods (foods you can make yourself and save money)
  • Take it to the Next Level (develop frugal habits that will save you LOTS)
  • Saving Money in the Internet Era (frugal hacks from the modern age of internet and social media)
  • Resources
  • Printables

There are several challenges in the book, and I decided to take the Once-a-Month Shopping Challenge. I know that fewer trips to the store will add up to bigger savings each month.

Here is my best guess of (some of) what my family of 7 eats in a month:

  • eggs – 6 dozen
  • milk – 18 gallons (wowsers)
  • bread – 6 loaves
  • pasta – 6 lbs
  • rice – 2 lbs
  • produce – 20+ lbs
  • flour – 4 lbs
  • sweetener – 2 lbs
  • meat  – 20+ lbs
  • butter – 6 lbs
  • oatmeal – 2 lbs

I will be using several of the challenges in Your Grocery Budget Toolbox over the next month to help me figure out my Once-a-Month Shopping plan.

You can purchase Your Grocery Budget Toolbox for only &4.99!

Now That REALLY Works for Me

April 12, 2012 By: amyswandering

A few months ago, I received an email from Kristen of We Are That Family that said some of my WFMW tips were going to be included in the new        That Works For Me! e-book.

To say that I was thrilled would be an understatement! But I will be honest, at the time I wasn’t sure that I would really be interested in buying it.

Now that I have the e-book in my hands on my computer, my opinion has changed drastically! It’s FANTASTIC!!

Consider That Works For Me! your new How-To Manual! I can’t even imagine the time & effort that must have gone into selecting the 800+ tips.

The e-book is broken down 24 categories. It is interactive, so you can click on a tip in the Table of Contents without having to scroll through the whole thing.

And the best part? A portion of the sales will go to Mercy House.

~*~ Save $1 when buying That Works For Me! with the code SAVE1 ~*~

I get to give away an e-book to one of my lovely readers!!!
