The G.R.A.P.E.S. of World History

February 7, 2012 By: amyswandering2 Comments

The G.R.A.P.E.S. of World History

One of the fears of not using a packaged curriculum for history is that there will be some holes in your timeline.

It can be a bit overwhelming for mom to try and decide what needs to be taught.

(Lists are available, but sometimes too many choices can be as bad as too few!)

As I sat down today to formulate a World History plan for the rest of the school year, I remembered a study tool that I bookmarked last summer.

G.R.A.P.E.S.

Geography

Religion

Achievements

Politics

Economy

Society

These categories make up the basic framework for studying World History.

Anything in addition is just gravy. 🙂

I created some notebook pages that will work for each civilization we study.

For the older kids, there is a page to fill out and a list of ideas for each category (to help little ears pay attention).

The younger kids will only have to draw a picture for each category.

Feel free to download these for your family.

I hope it makes your World History journey a little easier!

February Writing Prompt Calendar

January 31, 2012 By: amyswandering4 Comments

–>UPDATE: SEE THE FEBRUARY 2014 WRITING PROMPT CALENDAR HERE<–

A couple of years ago, I put together some writing prompt calendars for my kiddos to use with their creative writing journals.

The ideas  weren’t originals – I used several websites to put them together.

My kids requested that we do them again, so I decided to make my own.

I hope your gang enjoys them as much as mine does!

February Writing Prompt Calendar

Feel free to share the calendar, but please link to this post, not to the pdf. Thanks!!

p.s. Just print page 1 – can anyone tell me how to get rid of that blank page 2?!?
