urgent prayers needed!!!

February 20, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

Please remain on your knees for my friend Jenny! She had both legs amputated below the knees this week and had a few good days, but she is in critical condition once again.

Here is the latest from her CarePage:

“We have visited with a number of doctors today. Jenny has had an EEG and a MRI of her brain. It appears that some of the sepsis bacteria had clung to her heart valves, and has now released into her brain. The MRI shows a number of lesions, and the neurologist has not given us the rosiest of prognoses.

So we are asking you to pray for the cleansing power of Jesus to mend and heal Jenny’s brain. They have removed her from all of her pain meds so that they can find out how cognitive she is. It may take a while for her to wake up, because her body cannot metabolize the medicines very quickly. The doctors are discussing the best anti-seizure meds right now, as some have adverse affects on the liver and others on the kidneys.

In summary: We are up against the wall. We are desperate for the healing power of our Savior to anoint Jenny’s body right now.”

please pray!!

February 6, 2010 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Please pray for my friend Jenny! She was admitted to the hospital Thursday morning with pneumonia and was diagnosed with severe sepsis. She is in critical condition and fighting for her life.

She is a godly wife and mother, and her family is very dear to us. Her parents walked through the valley with us when our son was ill and they are now in that valley. I am praying that the God Who Heals will give her a story and give her many more years to tell it.

help for haiti

January 15, 2010 By: amyswandering2 Comments

My heart has been heavy the past few days as I’ve watched the images coming out of Haiti. I used to go to church with one of the victims. I ache for her lovely family. I thought about posting something, but the words just wouldn’t come. Thankfully, Money Saving Mom is giving us all a voice with a purpose.

Crystal and her husband are donating $10 to Compassion International’s relief fund for every person who blogs about what they are doing to help those in Haiti. We have supported a little boy through Compassion for over 2 years and they do some amazing things. She also has a long list of bloggers who will also make donations of some kind if you visit their blogs.

My husband is between jobs as he works on opening his own optical lab, so we are going to get creative about finding some extra funds to donate. (I did make a $5 donation to Compassion since every little bit counts!) Here are a few things we are going to do:

~ I am going to visit all those blogs! I don’t have as much money to donate as I would have had a few months ago, but these generous people are willing to donate on my behalf.

~ I have a couple of things in my garage that I am going to sell on craigslist.

~ I am listing some homeschool books for sale on the Homeschool Swap Boards and Homeschool Classifieds.

A little part of me says, “Oh, but I was going to buy some things we need by selling all of that stuff!”. But you know what? God is already providing for our needs, and He will continue to do so. I have a warm house, food in my pantry, and five children and a hubby to hold a little tighter. The people of Haiti have nothing but the hope that someone will care enough to help.

So go read about the Help for Haiti effort and see how you can help!

wfmw – 20+ Bible reading plans

December 30, 2009 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Have you heard of YouVersion? It is a free online Bible community. You can choose your version, take notes online, tag verses, and read others’ notes.

They have over 20 Bible reading plans to choose from. They last anywhere from 30 days to two years. What better way to start the New Year than committing to read the Word of God?

Just a note ~ next week’s WFMW is a backwards edition, where you get to ask for a tip instead of give one.

Run on ever to We Are That Family for tons of great tips!
