Colossians3_12

My morning devotional time for the past couple of months has been spent working my way through Titus 2. One day I would read the book of Titus and the next I would read a lesson from God’s Beautiful Design for Women: Living Out Titus 2:1-5. (The Revive Our Hearts Ministry is a fantastic source for studies. Nancy Leigh DeMoss is gifted by God to convict hearts and show us how to apply Scripture.)

I’ve begun to read familiar Bible verses in a whole new light. Instead of reading them in the context of interacting with fellow Christians and the church body, I now try to read them as they would apply to my children, husband and home. All of a sudden new life is being breathed into Scripture!

I want you to give it a try. Read the following verses and think of how you can apply them specifically to your family. It will change your actions and your speech….oh, and it might sting a little too 😉

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned, so that an opponent may be put to shame, having nothing evil to say about us.            Titus 2:7-8

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear. Ephesians 4:29

Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. Ephesians 4:31-32

Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. Colossians 3:12-13

So flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness.  II Timothy 2:22-25

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling. As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.                        I Peter 4:8-10

review – Grapevine Studies

August 19, 2009 By: amyswandering3 Comments

MOTBT L1NTS L3NTS

I’ve had my eye on Grapevine Studies for a couple of years now, so I was thrilled when I saw them on my review list! Dianna, the author of the series, went above and beyond to help me decide which studies were the best fit for my kids. I chose to review the Old Testament Basics and New Testament Overview Levels 1 & 3 e-books.

The concept is simple: draw basic stick figures for key stories in the Bible. The Teacher Book tells you step-by-step what to say and draw. Each lesson starts with a review, and then the teacher draws the lesson on a whiteboard as the student follows along on paper. It is that easy!! But don’t let the simplicity fool you – my kids are absorbing Bible facts like little sponges.

My husband is leading us through this before bed each night and the kids really enjoy it! My 4 year old needs a little guidance, but she is having no problem understanding and keeping up with the others. Everyone wants a turn with the dry erase markers, so Hubby quizzes each kid at the end of the lesson and they get to draw (and then erase!) the answer.

The Nitty Gritty:

  • OT Basics Teacher e-book  19.95
  • OT Basics Student e-book  19.95
  • NT Overview Teacher 3-4 e-book  24.95
  • NT Overview Student 1  e-book 25.95
  • NT Overview Student 3  e-book 22.95

Things I Like:

  • very easy to use – just open & teach
  • fun for the whole family
  • great customer service

Value: I think these are worth the money, especially if you buy the e-books. My 4 kids are sharing two levels, and I can cycle back through them when the two little ones & the baby get older.

I have a special discount to share with my readers. Order by September 15th and get 30% off with this code: crews

“So I ask myself sometimes if the women that I’m leading through the ministry of Revive Our Hearts and in my relationships—if those women talk the way I talk, if they shop the way I shop, if they eat the way I eat, if they pray the way I pray, if they trust the way I trust—what will their lives look like? If their lives never surpass the example of my life, what kind of disciples will I be producing? What kind of disciples will you be producing? “

glory revealed 2

This is for all my fellow Gomers 😉 (hmmm…except I would imagine that if you are a Gomer, then this is old news to you & your CD shipped today too! ) Ok, so this is for all you non-Gomers! LOL

The new Glory Revealed II album released today and mine has already shipped!! My kids love the first one, and I expect the second one to be just as enjoyable. The song lyrics are pulled straight from scripture. My heart swells to watch my sweet 4 y.o. daughter dance around the living room while singing the Word of God.

Here’s a little info:

“Mac Powell has once again teamed up with author/speaker David Nasser to produce 12 new worship songs that blend roots-driven music with Biblical truth designed to musically stamp the word of God on the heart of listeners. In addition to Mac, vocalists include Casting Crowns’ Mark Hall, Amy Grant, Sara Evans, Shane & Shane, Natalie Grant, Brandon Heath, and Tenth Avenue North’s Mike Donehey.”

There is a free autographed art print available while supplies last.
