all is calm * all is bright

January 5, 2011 By: amyswanderingcomment

Hope you all had a Peaceful CHRISTmas and a welcoming New Year!

I went into this holiday season with the mindset of being intentional. I wanted to have fun with my family, enjoy the treats, savor the season.

For the most part, my goal was accomplished! A few things, like blogging! had to go on the back burner. I am new to this simpler life thing & can’t fit it all in yet.

January always brings a sense of rest & freshness with it. Hopefully I won’t have to disappear again anytime soon!

Merry Monday Madness

December 13, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

I hope you are having a blessed Christmas season so far! We had some crazy, but good, times last week. I am looking forward to a much calmer schedule for the rest of December.

I have several product reviews to post and I am going to try to whip them all out right in a row. I want time to focus on more important things this CHRISTmas.  🙂   Along with the reviews, I will give you sale/coupon matchups if there are any.

I will no longer be posting Jingles. I want to focus on creative family fun and stick with what works –> finding great links & sharing them with you! Check out Money Saving Mom and Hip 2 Save for all of those fantastic deals!!

GameStop Holiday Wish List

December 4, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

Mama’s Holiday Wish List Meme

TodaysMama and GameStop are giving away a sleighful of gifts this holiday season and to enter I’m sharing this meme with you.

1. What is your holiday wish for your family?

My wish is that they will learn that the JOY that a little baby brings to the world every December is the same JOY that is promised to them all year long, if they will just put their faith & trust in that little baby’s Father!

2. What is your Christmas morning / Hanukkah Nightly tradition?

The kiddos wake up to find slippers outside of their bedroom doors. We play with toys, dump out stockings, eat breakfast, and then open our gifts to each other.

3. If you could ask Santa for one, completely decadent wish for yourself, what would it be?

A sky’s-the-limit shopping spree at Lowe’s

4. How do you make the holidays special without spending any money?

My kids are BIG on tradition! We love watching corny holiday specials, singing carols, cutting out snowflakes & looking at Christmas lights.

5. What games did you play with your family growing up?

Connect Four was on of my favorites.

6. What holiday tradition have you carried on from your own childhood?

We still have the same meal when we decorate our tree that I did growing up: summer sausage/cheese/cracker tray, candy and Christmas punch

7. Where would you go for a Christmas/Hanukkah-away-from-home trip?

New York City!!!

8. Check out GameStop and tell us, what are the three top items on your GameStop Wish List this year?

~ EA Sports Active NFL Training Camp

~ uDraw Tablet

~ Xbox 360 with Kinect

starting over

October 7, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

Blogging has been a sporadic event for me since the beginning of summer. I really enjoyed my time on the TOS Crew last year, but all those reviews left little time for posting about the things I like. I ended up in place where I couldn’t even remember what I used to write about.

BuRnEd OuT!

Soooo I have decided to start over. First, I had to figure out what kind of posts I want to continue. I took a trip back through time and made a list.

Here are some things that make blogging enjoyable:

~ the fun & silliness involved in my TMI posts – I especially love it when my readers play along!

~ my Big List of Lists (you can see it in the column to the right)

~ the library list

~ fun holiday activities and carnivals

~ Simple Woman’s Daybook

~ Works For Me Wednesday

~ Jingling about cheap or free gifts

~ free homeschool resources

These are some new things I want to do:

~ Sunday Sampler – a collection of Bible verses, songs, quotes and links that have encouraged me

~ Updates on life in our lovely crazy family (my kids are a wee bit older than pictured – oops!)

Now it’s your turn: Are there any features here that you really enjoy? I will be glad to continue some of them! Is there anything new that you would like to see here, to encourage you in your walk as a Christian woman or homeschooler?

not hangin out this week

July 8, 2010 By: amyswanderingcomment

No Homeschool Hangout this week! I have been tackling my house, determined to get it streamlined before school starts. You should see the stuff piling up in my entryway – it looks like an estate sale! Woohoo!!
