Planning for a Peaceful Christmas

October 25, 2011 By: amyswandering1 Comment

Did you know that Christmas is just 60 days away?

Many of us have visions of a peaceful, holy season spent with family & friends.

Too often, it turns into a hectic mess of chaos and you are left feeling empty and exhausted.

Several bloggers want to help you start planning your holiday now to avoid all of that last minute busy-ness!

Life As Mom has you Planning for a Simpler Season.

12 bloggers are joining together for the 12 Ways of Christmas.

Sheri Graham brings you Homemade for the Holidays.

Sew Mama Sew has a creative Holiday Sew-Along.

We had a Joy-filled Christmas last year with our December Advent Countdown Box. It was a last-minute idea and not as organized as I would like. I will be fine-tuning it for this year and sharing it here with you in November!

October 13, 2011 By: amyswanderingcomment

I know it is not even Halloween yet, so why a Thanksgiving planner?

If you already  have a plan in place, it is easy to take advantage of sales and stock up a little at a time (it‘s less painful that way 🙂 ).

You would be surprised at how many generic Fall items you can find in the after-Halloween clearance sales!

{31 Days} Online Meal Coordinator

October 5, 2011 By: amyswandering2 Comments

The ladies at church usually coordinate meals for illness or a new baby through email. This works pretty good IF the group is small and everyone remembers to Reply All.

There are several free sign-up sites to help you be more organized when coordinating a group.

Some are just for food (baby, illness, death, potluck, sports snacks, etc.), but a few will work for any kind of event.

WFMW – Theme Night Menu Plan

July 27, 2011 By: amyswandering1 Comment

The traditional weekly menu plan is not my friend. I’ve tried to make the relationship work, but I just don’t like to be told what I am going to eat and when I am going to eat it.

I need some sort of organization though, or I get in a food rut. Last week was one of those ruts, so I called a family meeting and we brainstormed some meal ideas.

You are all familiar with the Day of the Week menu themes: Mexican Monday, Italian Tuesday, etc. My hubby decided to use that idea to plan a master menu with the results of our brainstorming session.

All I have to do is look at the list and choose a meal for the day that matches the ingredients I have on hand. Organized chaos – that’s how I roll! 😀

Here is the list we made, in case you need some fresh ideas:

~Mexican Monday~

  • Burritos
  • Nachos
  • Quesadillas
  • Tacos
  • Enchiladas
  • Taquitos
  • Fajitas
  • Carne Asada
  • Taco Salad
  • Carnitas
  • Salsa Verde Beef

~Italian Tuesday~

  • Spaghetti
  • Lasagna
  • Baked Ziti
  • Pesto Pasta
  • Skilletini
  • Spinach Alfredo Lasagna
  • Ravioli
  • Tortellini
  • Chicken Parmesan

~Whatever Wednesday~

  • Chicken Pot Pie
  • Meatloaf
  • Fried Pork Chops
  • Chicken Spaghetti
  • Breakfast
  • Sub Sandwiches
  • Fish
  • Beef Stew
  • Fried Chicken
  • Stuffed Bell Peppers

~Grillin’ Thursday~

  • Hamburgers
  • Hot Dogs
  • BBQ Chicken
  • Sausage
  • Pork Chops
  • Steak

~Fun Friday~ (we watch a movie & eat junk food)

  • Pizza
  • Stromboli
  • Calzones
  • Sausage Balls
  • Mozzarella Cheese Sticks
  • Smokies
  • Rotel Cheese Dip w/sausage
  • Corn Dogs
  • Popcorn
  • Fried Pickles
  • Frito Pie

What meals would you add to my list?

Run on over to We Are That Family for tons of great ideas!
