31 Days to Clean

April 27, 2011 By: amyswandering1 Comment

I’ve read rave reviews the past few weeks about the new eBook                 31 Days to Clean: Having a Martha House the Mary Way.

Every day has two challenges:

  • The Mary Challenge -Something you do that encourages/engages your heart
  • The Martha Challenge – Specific cleaning tasks

There are tons of resources out there that tell you how to tackle your house, but this one also deals with the heart issues involved.

I discovered that, starting May 1st, there is going to be a 31-Day Homemaker’s Challenge using this book.

There is a Kindle version that can also be read on Kindle PC, which is super handy for highlighting and taking notes without having to print.

The eBook is ONLY $4.99, but if you share through your blog or Twitter before midnight tonight (EST) you can get a free copy!

Naming My Year

January 10, 2011 By: amyswandering1 Comment

You may have noticed around Bloggyworld that people are naming the New Year.

Several words swirled around in my brain as I contemplated a name for my year: Glorify, Create, Joy, Simplify, Determined, Diligent

I asked God to show me what He would name my year, and He quickly answered.

{ RHYTHM }

And of course it is perfect.

I have worked hard this past year to simplify our life so that I can slow down and enjoy it. I am by nature disorganized, scattered, easily bored. Habits die hard, but little by little I have added structure to what was once chaos.

Here is what the word {Rhythm} stirs up in me:

  • Beauty
  • Grace
  • Warmth
  • Hospitality
  • Traditions
  • Simplicity
  • Welcoming
  • Comfortable

So this is The Year of Rhythm.

~ A year of living to the beat of His heart. ~

Hopefully I can look at my life at the end of the year, God willing, and say it is so!

what’s your decorating style?

September 25, 2009 By: amyswandering2 Comments

quizHomePromo

The HomeGoods StyleScope is a fun little quiz to determine your decorating style. After the quiz, you can enter for a $5000 shopping spree!

My results were very accurate. It’s not really how my house looks now, but definitely the look (and feel) I am working towards.

you are a Bohemian Casual

You are interested in creating a place where people feel relaxed. You have a variety of interests and influences and so appreciate different styles, cultures, and objects. Your home is cozy, with comfy chairs, throw pillows and places to set a drink or a book. But it also feels creative and visually intriguing, because you have an artist’s eye that allows you to find objects that appeal to you in a unique and personal way—whether from your travels or from a local shop. This gives your home a feeling of being laid-back, and maybe even a bit quirky with its mix of pieces—some of which are classic, some handmade, some ethnic, and some just rich in meaning to you.

You value comfort. Your home is a warm and open friendly place, and you feel happiest when everyone is cared for and relaxed in your space. Elements like pillows, throws, overstuffed furniture, and good lighting set the mood. You may also enjoy layering different fabrics or mixing patterns to create a cozy effect.

What were your results?

You can get a 1-year subscription to Southern Living if you order before 11:59pm Saturday.

This would make a great gift – you can print out a certificate on Amazon.

I used one of the $5 Amazon gift cards that I earned by using Swagbucks and got mine for free!!

(A big thanks to BooMama for the info.)
