I want to encourage you with some wonderful resources:
Above Rubies I love this free magazine! It is all about embracing your ministry as a mother & wife, and getting rid of self in the process.
No Greater Joy – another free magazine. I stayed away from this site for a long time because of all of the negative things I heard about the Pearls**. After much searching & reading, I’ve decided that it is a bunch of gossip. Their magazine is loaded with Biblical meat and I look forward to seeing it in my mailbox.
**I realize I might be about to open a can of worms here, but it’s my blog :o) Until about 6 months ago, all I knew about the Pearls were from two sources: 1) Women on a message board I belong to who thought the Pearls were the answer to their prayers, but who were being used as doormats by their husbands to the point where some of it bordered on abuse, and 2) from hateful blogs posts by women who were accusing the Pearls of telling women to do what their husbands told them even if it meant sinning. You can see why I had no interest in reading anything by them. I started seeing little snippets of their writings that interested me & decided to sign up for their magazine – I’m not one to pass up a freebie! I was amazed at the first copy I received, but not for the negative reasons I expected. It was filled with Godly insight and steeped in scripture. I know they are not perfect, and there are probably things I don’t agree with, but let’s don’t throw out the baby with the bath water. More controversial is their advice on child training, and I’m not going there except to say that sometimes a child just needs a good firm reminder on the behind. So there, can closed.
Holy Experience one of the first blogs I ever read. It will prick your heart and refine you.
Revive Our Hearts Nancy Leigh DeMoss will challenge you to go deeper. Listen to or read her radio programs and download some wonderful printable resources like 31 Days of Praying for Your Husband and 31 Biblical Virtues to Pray for Your Children
The Character Journal I am starting this on Monday with my kids. I expect I will learn more from it than they will ;o)
desiring God If you’ve never read a John Piper book, start with Don’t Waste Your Life. They even have a free online copy.
Reforming Marriage this is not a website- it’s the the best book on marriage I’ve ever read. While you’re at it, take a look around Books on the Path. I could spend a lot of time & money there…too bad I have a limited amount of both.
