wfmw -backwards day

September 3, 2008 By: amyswandering6 Comments

It’s time for another Backwards Edition of WFMW, where I get to ask for a tip instead of give one. I’ve got two plaguing questions today:

1. Can you recommend a good heavy-duty, inexpensive iron? I would like to stay under $30, but I don’t know if that is realistic, so definitely nothing over $50.

2. Let’s talk coffee: I’ve only had the occasional cup here & there during my pregnancy, and I don’t want to go back to my 2 cup a day habit after the baby is born. I love my daily coffee, but hate being dependent on a caffeine fix. Do you know of a decaf brand that actually tastes like regular coffee? (And if you think most decaf tastes like regular coffee, well, thanks for the kind help but you are wrong :o) LOL

I look forward to reading your helpful answers – thanks!!!

wfmw – great art/craft sites for kids

July 23, 2008 By: amyswanderingcomment

Need something creative to do with your kids this summer? Check out these two awesome sites!

Art Attacks has so many wonderful projects using various methods & materials. I think it might be a TV show from England.

The Imagination Factory is a site full of art projects made by recycling stuff from around the house. You can click on Trash Matcher to sort them by materials you have on hand.

If that’s not enough to keep you busy, check out my long list of art/crafts links. It’s in the column to the right under My School Links.

Run on over to Rocks In My Dryer for tons of great tips!

wfmw – remembering wfmw favorites

July 16, 2008 By: amyswandering6 Comments

As a long-time reader of WFMW, I’ve come across tons of great tips that I want to remember. Problem is, motherhood had given me Swiss Cheese Brain and I would forget them ten minutes later. I tried putting them in my computer bookmarks, adding them to del.icio.us, or printing them out, but none of those really worked for me. One day I decided to start adding my favorite tips to the bottom of my own WFMW post (you can see an example below). All I have to do now is click on my works-for-me-wednesday category and there are all the helpful tips I’ve found each week. (Out of common courtesy, I always leave a comment on the ideas I steal borrow.)

Run on over to Rocks In My Dryer for tons of great tips!

Children’s Artwork Hangers

Playing Card Storage

Chore / Job Jars

wfmw – free homeschool stuff

July 9, 2008 By: amyswandering1 Comment

I recently discovered two wonderful FREE resources for homeschoolers (& non-homeschoolers too!):

The Homeschool Freebie of the Day posts a new free e-book everyday. I love the variety! (The books are available for one day only, so download right away.)

Freely Educate posts links to all kinds of free stuff – printables, e-books, websites & more.

I put both of these sites in my Bloglines so I don’t miss anything!

Run on over to Rocks In My Dryer for some great tips!

Tips I want to remember:

Listerine for Mosquitos

Preschool Activity Bags

Easy BBQ Ribs

Jazzing Up Mealtime music & funny food

Coupon Sorting Mat
